The Big Idea
 Tune in to Warrington’s TV project
2006 will be a special year for Warrington as it gets its first-ever opportunity to feature on television for an entire week. Aptly named the BIG IDEA, Warrington’s own Internet community channel will first go on air on Oct 23 and feature absolutely local content. It will be a great success for the local community but on one condition - that YOU get involved! The television channel will be broadcast from the new Warrington Collegiate Institute base in Orford, currently under construction. The BIG IDEA is part of a network of internet channels devised by Danish company Superchannel, which has successfully launched 31 similar channels across the globe from studios as far apart as Austria, Denmark, England, Italy, Japan, Scotland and Thailand. The BIG IDEA will reflect a real TV channel with programmes ranging from dramas and documentaries to soap operas and news bulletins. Presenters, actors, film-makers and producers will all come from the local community and will be trained in scriptwriting, journalism, animation, presenting, acting, editing and filming. When practical filming kick-starts in January with over 50 individual projects, media students from University of Chester will train the local community to produce their own TV content. So, from 2006 expect to see camera obsessed packs of footage-hungry people running around Warrington in a filming frenzy. So if you’re into TV or have a story to tell, Pyramid and its partners will find you a place in this grand undertaking. You can get involved at every level of the channel’s creation and programming and will receive a comprehensive package of training to equip you with invaluable transferable skills.
