Double Indemnity – Cert PG
Directed brilliantly by Billy Wilder and co-written by Raymond Chandler, this film follows the classic noir narrative of the femme fatale and the unsuspecting hero who falls victim to her manipulation.
Double Indemnity broods as a housewife plots to claim double on her husband’s life insurance. insurance salesman Walter Neff becomes infatuated by her and concocts a plan to get away with the money, the woman and a murder. A stylistically moody and pessimistic film of betrayal, lust and deception.
Paint It Black: Film Noir exhibition and Film Screenings
Local photographer, Paul Jackson of Unit 8 Photography, is producing a touring Film Noir inspired photographic exhibition that will feature local residents as they recreate some of the most memorable and distinctive scenes form this truly unique period of filmmaking. In partnership with Culture Warrington, LiveWire and Warrington Borough Council he plans to produce 12 photographs that will be toured around five libraries across the town. Each week the exhibition will move to the next library and the work will also be accompanied by a special film screening of a classic Film Noir.
These films have been hand-picked to showcase some of the best examples of Film Noir produced throughout the forties and fifties. Each film screening will be accompanied by a free introductory programme featuring an overview of each film plus a brief history of film noir.
